Why Choose Kappa Sigma?

The Delta Eta Chapter of Kappa Sigma has a proud and storied history on the USC campus. An active part of campus life since 1925, brothers value the strong bond of brotherhood within the house and balanced nature of house activities.

Over the past year, Kappa Sigs have been busy in greek and campus life. At the house, the social calendar has featured formal invites, major parties including the annual and much-anticipated Margaritaville, weekly social exchanges with sororities, a toga and luau-themed exchange, a date dash, our annual overnight retreat and much more. Additionally, many bros have attended various sorority dances and philanthropies throughout the course of the year.

One of the highlights of the year is our philanthropy, Rodeo Days. Known for being one of the biggest weeks on The Row, Kappa Sigma transformed into an urban rodeo. The weeklong event featured a variety of competitions between sororities, including a cowgirl-themed runway walkoff, a western-themed song/dance routine and haystack jousting. While a lot of fun was had during the week, the cause was not lost; over $5000 were donated to A Place Called Home, a charity supporting local children.

Kappa Sigma has excelled in fraternity athletics, finishing the 2005-2006 school year in second place in the Greek Ironman competition, the yearlong interfraternal sports league, for the second year running. Kappa Sigs repeated as fraternity champions in Softball and also brought home the championships in hockey, over-the-line, water polo and swimming. Top three finishes were recorded in flag football, dodgeball, golf, tennis, racquetball and the basketball shootout.

Fraternity life is commonly highlighted by its extracurricular activities. Our busy social calendar offers plenty of time for fun. However, we also take academics very seriously. The house tied for the top fraternity grade point average for the fall semester of 2004 and has since ranked among the top three houses. Kappa Sigma received the Award for Excellence in Academic Achievement and Programming at the Spring 2005 Greek Awards.

Also at the Greek Awards, Kappa Sigma received the Most Outstanding Alumni Advisor awards, in addition to being a finalist for the Best House award.

It is an exciting and proud time to be a Kappa Sigma at USC and nationally. The fraternity had the largest new member initiation of any Greek organization last year and is one of the biggest houses nationally. Among the benefits to Kappa Sigs of such membership is an extensive and powerful alumni network ready and willing to open doors to fellow brothers during and after college.

Ask any fraternity man and he will tell you that the greek experience will define your college experience. As a Kappa Sigma, you will like the man you become.
