The decades of prosperity that bank bandits have experienced in Los Angeles divulge a link between bandits and the amalgam of LA's physical elements. The urban and architectural features of the city are representative of a synthesis of different interest groups, and the conditions of the city are an unintentional invitation that encourages bandit activity. The continued popularity of the crime is a reflection of the city in the past, present, and future. The FBI's attitude in capturing bandits and the trend in bank robbery numbers are also discussed, and matters of surveillance are observed in conjunction with the 1984 Summer Olympic Games.
