Jose Herrera is a student in the GIST Certificate program at the University of Southern California. He plans to complete the certificate program by the end of 2013 and transition into the Masters Program. Recently, Jose graduated from the University of California at Santa Barbara with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Geography. During his upper division studies at UCSB, he gained experience with ArcGIS and ENVI to perform vector and raster analysis for course assignments. The frequency and intensity of natural disasters due to global climate change have sparked Joses interests in disaster management with emphasis in search, rescue, and evacuation. He is looking for a career where he can apply GIS to help save peoples lives.
