Buzz Notes

Updated 2/14/99! There are a few things you should know about.

The Wavecrest Community

Wavecrest is now an "pre-project" of L'arche! Here in southern California, a group of people who have visited, lived at, or been influenced by the L'Arche communities (and way of life) are trying to begin a community that would create homes for people with different abilities to live together. This is a long process, and the dream has been in the works for over 14 years now. If you would like to know more about Wavecrest, I will be glad to put you in touch with my good friend Karen Carr. Email me.

The LoveWorks Urban Center

The LoveWorks Center for Compassionate Ministry at Point Loma Nazarene College is in the process of raising funds and making plans to establish a location that would work with the poor in urban San Diego. The center works hard to build bridges between the campus community and the poor of southern California, as well as all over the world. For more information on the LoveWorks center for compassionate ministry, click here, or call Rosco Williamson at 619-849-2679

The Emerging Urban Leaders Network

As part of a larger national movement, several young adults have been gathering on a regular basis to mutually support each other toward living lives of radical Christianity. Common topics of discussion are intergenerational reconciliation, learning to recognize the beauty and the gifts of the inner city, raising family in the city, and life in community. Contact the people one the Urbangeneration Web page for more info on attending meetings or starting a focus group in your area.

Tea And Resistance

Keep your eye out...or even host the event yourself...getting together for Coffee and discussion on issues relating to Christian dissent from the evils present in American society...possible topics "What does it mean to be 'White' and Christian in America?" and "Resisting American Consumerism." In the San Diego Area contact Cassie Lewis. In the Los Angeles area Email.

The point is...don't just sit there, mean something.
