Airplane Crashes, Blocks Freeway
All lanes of Interstate 5 shut down. No Injuries have been reported.

A Gulfstream IV aircraft overshot the runway at LAX this morning, crashing through a fence and stopping in the southbound lanes of the adjacent San Diego Freeway.

There were no immediate reports of injuries among anyone on the airplane or the freeway.

Police said the incident happened at about 9:25 a.m. Incoming and outgoing flights were immediately halted as emergency crews responded to the scene. All lanes of the 5 Freeway also were closed.

Last year, a Southwest Airlines 737 overshot the runway at Chicago’s Midway Airport and smashed into a car driving on a nearby street, killing a boy riding in that car.
