As I See It

As I See It

03 February, 2012
So I'm working as a transportation intern for city in the LA area. We're developing a small bus network to help tourist. It's interesting work, but you know, school never really prepares you for the real world. I'm learning a lot on the job!
This weekend's the Super Bowl! Patriots vs Giants. So I'm a San Diego Chargers fan, and when my team doesn't make it to the post season, I usually root for the closest team geographically. I'm pretty damn biased against the East Coast, so this year's game isn't as exciting to me as others have been (not that last year was much closer…). Too bad I've got an Economics midterm on Tuesday, I'll be focusing more on studying than the big game.
There are a couple new pieces I'm posting today. I don't usually do fan art, I'm more into drawing what comes directly from my imagination. However, occasionally that stuff includes characters I didn't create! The first is Princess Peach, of Mario fame. My roommate and I decided to stay in and enjoy a couple bottles of the classiest drink available, Andre Peach Champagne! A couple hours, a few more drinks, and a couple rounds of Super Smash Bros. Melee later, this drawing was finished! What type of magic effects do you think the Mario Universe's version of Andre's would have…?
Next up is another pic inspired by the Aqualillies. She's a dancer in a retro style bikini outfit. It makes me think of salsa dancing, which in turn makes me think of chips and salsa. Now I'm hungry…

Today is my sister's birthday! I need to send my card. She just had a baby, my first nephew! He's very small and cute, but they live in Sacramento, so I can't visit very often.
I've been drawing a lot lately. I'm very inspired by a local performance group known as the Aqualillies. They are a synchronized swimming/dance troupe and have an awesome vintage quality about them. If you've ever seen Esther Williams, you'll know what I mean. I've done a few drawings in this series, you can see them below.

Welcome to As I See It, a blog featuring my artwork and musings. I've been drawing all my life, and love to show people the way I see the world. Hope to see you around!
