Brahms Experiment by Director Musices

The Director Musices rules mimic performance principles used by real musician input quantity parameters given to the rules can drastically change performance according to the intentions of the DM user.

The rules we study are:

Phrasing Rules: Punctuation, Phrase-articulation, Prase-arch, Phrase-ritardando, High-Load

Harmonic and Melodic Tension: Melodic-charge, Harmonic-charge, chromatic-charge, Double-duration

Timing: Duration-contrast, Duration-contrast-art

Utility Rules: Normalize-sl, Maximize-sl

The rules are a result from a long-term research project at the Royal Institute if Technology, Stockholm and have been developed by Lars Fryden, Johan Sundberg, and Anders Friberg.
