IEEE Executive Board 2013-2014 Elections

Thank you for your interest in signing up for the IEEE Executive Board for the 2013-2014 school year! We could always use more energetic and interested people helping us run IEEE @ USC, and we look forward to the possibility of you serving on the board next year.

Here's a timeline for the IEEE board elections and an outline of each executive board position:

4/15: Written applications due
4/16 - 4/1: General membership voting period
4/23: Executive Board 2013-2014 announced
Final determination of board is based on 60% vote by general membership and 40% vote by outgoing board members.

2012 - 2013 IEEE Executive Board Position Descriptions


President: Oversee IEEE Executive Board and assist with all events as needed. Run board meetings and facilitate general meetings. Serve as point of contact for IEEE sectional, regional, and national. (Recommended: 1 year of previous IEEE Board experience)

Vice President: Assist President and lead Executive Board in absence of President. Coordinate IEEE's annual Student Professional Awareness Conference (S-PAC) with help of Corporate Affairs Committee, which includes the responsibilities of gathering corporate recruiters, student event sign-ups, and RSVP process. Coordinate Viterbi-related recruitment and publicity events (such as Viterbi Luau, Discover USC, etc.). (Recommended: 1 year of previous IEEE Board experience)

Treasurer: Obtain funding for all meetings and events (applications through various funding sources).

Director of Communication: Maintain records of membership and attendance at events. Manage listserv. Take minutes at executive board meetings. Help President with IEEE e-mail account. Organize IEEE regional and national reports.

Events and Programming


Corporate Affairs Chair: Plan general meetings with corporate speakers, including Spotlight Speaker Series (about once every two months). Coordinate off-campus company lab tours. Organize S-PAC with help of Vice Chair - corporate sign-ups and RSVP process, venue/food reservations.

Academic Affairs Chair: Plan general meetings with academic speakers, including Spotlight Speaker Series (about once every two months). Coordinate research lab tour visits or round-table discussions for Lab Tour Series with SWE, NSBE, and SHPE. Free to propose other ideas, such as the Student Paper Contest.

Graduate Advisory Chair: Serve as liaison between graduate student body/VGSA and IEEE. Initiate events geared towards graduate students and assist with relevant events led by Corporate/Academic Affairs Committees.

Social Events Chair: Plan IEEE social events such as Welcome Back Bonfire, Soccer Tourney, UCLA-USC Broomball Showdown, etc.

Philanthropy Chair: Plan community outreach events, such as E-Week Professor Pie Toss (funds raised for local schools), Relay for Life, and FIRST Robotics volunteering. Support philanthropic efforts by other Viterbi student organizations.

Supporting


Report Committee Chair: Head of the Report Committee, which will consist of chair (this position) and Freshman whom will be recruited next Fall. Document IEEE events throughout the year by taking pictures and collecting information about featured speakers, companies, etc. Compile report, to be submitted sometime next March and kept for IEEE's own records.

Webmaster: Manage and update IEEE website with weekly news. Create online sign-up forms for events.
