ACADEMIC SCHOLARSHIP

As students of the University of Southern California (USC), we recognize that our determination, perseverance, and diligence enabled us to being admitted into this institution of higher learning.  We also acknowledge our commitment to obtain a quality education.  Accordingly, we recognize that our primary objective is to strive for academic excellence as we pursue a college degree.  In earning our degree, we aim to open a window of opportunity for future personal endeavors.

As Hermanos, it is our duty and responsibility to gain the appropriate knowledge and essential skills for future career success.  To prevent incoming students from faltering academically, we will provide proper direction, guidance, and motivation toward academic success.  By working together, Hermanos will strive to support each other’s academic strengths, while maintaining individual character.  In doing so, a stronger Hermandad shall be established.

SOCIAL INTERACTION

Collegiate life encompasses more than academics.  Social communication is a fundamental key in establishing an Hermandad.  In order to strengthen this Hermandad, social interaction must stretch beyond the confines of the classroom.  Furthermore, social relationships help in relieving the stress that accompanies the frenetic university life.  Therefore, these relations will also foster the skills necessary for every member to become a well-rounded individual. 

Hermanos Unidos will promote the development of meaningful relationships with all its contacts by building an open and apolitical social bridge between all organizations.  Regarding everyone as equals, we shall make every effort to inform groups of our events and activities, as well as support them in their endeavors.  Social gatherings and other activities will enable us to network successfully with other organizations as we build enduring relationships within Hermanos Unidos.

COMMUNITY SERVICE

Looking beyond our personal success and interests, we must also remember that there is a community around us not to be neglected nor ignored.  We will make every possible effort to inform this community of all available opportunities of success.  Hermanos Unidos (USC) will continue the fine examples of fellow campus organizations, as well as Hermanos Unidos extensions at other campuses, in reaching out to our community and other communities.

Thus, to become more conscious members of the community/neighborhood, we individually and as a organization will become duly involved with various social projects.  Hermanos Unidos (USC) will endeavor to give back to local communities by taking the initiative in pursuing an assortment of community projects, as well as join and assist with fellow campus organizations engaging in similar tasks.

 When arranging community events, partnerships with other organizations will be established, allowing an open array of opportunity in the projects we pursue.  In becoming involved in community upheaval programs, Hermanos Unidos will identify areas of social and economic need to enhance our development into well-rounded pillars of the community.
