  Fast Times on Mulholland Drive

Mulholland Drive winds through the Hollywood hills between the 405 and the 101, standing as a perpetual challenge to racers in the Los Angeles area. The road has hosted trial runs by famous drivers throughout its existence: James Dean, Steve McQueen, and Dick Guldstrand all tested themselves and their cars on this treacherous mountain road. Though the road has become more populated since the great races of past decades, many drivers still journey up to Mulholland to tackle the twisting corners. Anyone attempting to tackle the course should leave a wide margin for error, since large sections are residential and the remainder is notoriously unforgiving. A mistake on Mulholland tends to make a driver into a statistic.

Los Angeles drivers use their cars to make a statement. Southern California is at the crossroads of various automotive philosophies. Car meets give drivers a chance to show off their rides among like-minded associates, exchange tips and tricks, and occasionally launch some impromptu competition. From mellow gatherings that resemble a circle of friends to large, ostentatious meetings that seem more like car shows, L.A. drivers get together to share their passion for cars. All it takes is a parking lot and a quorum of automobiles.

Pacific Coast Highway is the typical image of Los Angeles roads.  Stretching the length of the Pacific Coast, PCH is one of the most beautiful highways in Southern California.  From Redondo Beach up to the edge of Los Angeles County, PCH follows the coastline, pairing breathtaking seascapes against city skylines and the sparsely populated hills north of Malibu.  However, traffic is often an issue on this iconic stretch of road.  When the road is clear, though, this drive makes you forget about the city.  Its simple beauty makes PCH a relaxing recreational drive.
