Richard Hodkinson - from Lancashire, in the north of England - is a 2nd year PhD researcher in communication, at the Annenberg School for Communication,
at the University of Southern California USC, in Los Angeles.

Interests:

  • Political communication, power, and organisations in the public sphere: discourses of media, politics and any institutions' power, dependency and framing relations
  • Network theory, social scientific and interpretive sociology
  • Practical and aesthetic approaches to film, books, popular media and the Internet intended to enrich political and social discourses
  • The problems of globalization and modern assumptions of individualism
  • Resolutions to social and humanistic communication methodological disputes: including narrative; complexity models; language games
  • Online social networks and their relationship to offline social events
