Message From the President
Hello, new friend!
Thank you for visiting the website of the USC Helenes!
We are an all-female, service-based organization engaged in volunteer opportunities on campus and in the surrounding Downtown LA community. At our founding in 1921, we represented the university as the "Official Hostesses of USC"; today we hold that title in high esteem, while also serving in the beautiful community that surrounds the university we love.
The strength of this organization is rooted in our history. The past ninety years have fostered our dedication to service and expanded our volunteer opportunities outside of the university. We serve with organizations such as Comunidad Cesar Chavez, the Downtown Women’s Center, the Bark Avenue Foundation, and so many more. We support ALL of our athletic teams, from football to women’s basketball. We also help out at the Fisher Gallery on campus! Every fall, we participate in all Homecoming activities and celebrate the birthday of USC on Founder’s Day. Each spring, we volunteer at the Swim with Mike fundraiser and Spirits in Action.
For the past four semesters we have also held Service in the Park, an on campus service event that invited the university to participate in volunteer projects that benefit many of the organizations we work with on a regular basis. It is a way to involve the university community in the work we do, as well as serve with our fellow Trojans! Furthermore, we hold a fundraiser every spring, Havana Nights, to raise the money we use to buy meals for the Downtown Women’s Center. This is just a little taste of what we do, but there is so much more!
Throughout this website, you will find more information from my fellow Executive Board members about their specific positions and the amazing events they hold every semester. You will find a letter from our Special Events Chair, Chelsey Christensen, which will inform you about some exciting new service opportunities we have this semester! You will also find a letter from Meghan Johnson, University Events Chair, about our continued involvement and commitment to the university. If you are interested in joining Helenes, please visit the "Prospectives" tab! You will find everything you need to know about our bi-annual recruitment. If you are a general member, you will find all of your payment information under "Merchandise". And if you are a Helenes alum, please look around at our events this semester for our great graduates, and contact Morgan Cheeks, our Alumnae Relations Chair, if you have any questions about events for this year!
Again, thank you so much for visiting the Helenes website, but most importantly, thank you for your interest and support of all that we do. We wouldn’t be where we are without you.
Fight on!
All my love,
Rosa Brummel
