MPP (Public Policy) Committee

Mission

The MPP Committee acts as a liaison between the MPP students and GPAC by representing the professional and academic interests of aspiring public policy professionals and keeping them informed of the opportunities available through GPAC and SPPD.

People

The MPP Committee values the overwhelming diversity and talent in the public policy program. We encourage you to learn more about this committee by contacting our chair.

Activities

As the MPP Committee, we plan to undertake the following activities during the upcoming academic year:

  1. Faculty/ Staff Appreciation: We believe that faculty and staff at SPPD are vital to our graduate school experience and to reflect this we plan to organize a Faculty/ Staff appreciation event once a year. This would also encourage greater interaction between candidates and faculty/ staff in an informal setting. (Annually)
  2. Curriculum Forums: The MPP Committee acts as a liaison between the students and the school in order to address any academic and career planning issues that may arise. (Each Semester)
  3. Internship Database: The MPP Committee will work in collaboration with the Professional Development Committee to set up a database of internship experiences from current GPAC members. This will allow students to identify potential resources. (On-going)
  4. Community Service Activities: The MPP Committee will work in collaboration with the Non-Profit Committee to explore opportunities for doing community service including working with Habitat for Humanity and Blood Drives. (On-going)
  5. Social Activity: The MPP Committee will work in collaboration with the Social Committee and International Committee to provide social and informal avenues for greater interaction among the candidates. We plan to start "Get LAed" a once in a month social outing to explore different parts of Los Angeles. (Monthly)
  6. MPP Appreciation Dinner: The MPP Committee will recognize outstanding MPP students at the end of the year with an appreciation dinner. (Annually)
  7. Increase MPP Membership: The MPP Committee strives in creating increasing representation within GPAC and continually invites interested parties to learn more about the organization. (On-going)

Involvement

The MPP Committee has an open door policy to any and all candidates who are interested. We be happy to talk with you about ways in that you can get involved with the MPP Committee.
