Going for the Goal, USC's Volunteer Organization of the Year in 2006, teaches life skills to adolescents. To be successful in life, it is not enough to be told what to avoid; one must have positive goals, one must be taught the skills necessary to reach those goals, and one must practice these skills, just like the skills learned in sports. Through the Goal program, for ten weeks during the spring semester, USC volunteers travel to nearby Los Angeles Middle Schools and lead students in goal-setting and goal-keeping lessons and activities. The program serves as a valuable experience for both the Middle School students and the USC volunteers as they learn together how to attain their goals.
