Just say that you are having a "Bake Sale" for the right form. Remember that as a part of a USC group, you are ’non-profit’ and so you can pretty much put "NA" for the County of LA stuff and that you CAN sell home-baked goods.

To get EVK donations, their office is to the far left of the main entrance to EVK, ask for -

To get a website and email for your group, go to Topping Student Center and ask for "USC Student Organization Account Application". var msg2 = "
Locations Rooms on USC campus

Classroom scheduling. Their phone number is 213 740-4612, and their website is hereis okay, but it doesn’t tell you anything or show any forms. Call them, they can fax you the form if you want. They need a least 2-3 days lead time, but if you are really in a crunch, try to be super nice and not too picky about where they can squeeze you.

Leavey Auditorium. Great "classroom" setting with comfy chairs and you can have video or a PC-based presentation if you want. It’s really underutilized, so try this one out. No ’food and drinks’ allowed though. Yes You can call the front desk or you can look if what’s open for that week and talk to the main desk. I usually do the latter first, as what’s printed on the paper is on the door of the auditorium, and those at the front desk can’t find their copy. Link to their online form, which can be faxed to them at 213 740-7713 and their phone number is 213 740-0049. Ask for the ’Auditorium & Learning Room Reservation Form’.

Ground Zero. They’ve got a small stage, a drinks bar, and a whole mess of couches to lounge on. Call them at 213 740-7394. Ask for whomever is incharge of scheduling.

Residential Halls. Nearly all of them have some sort of main lobby or study area. Go to the main office in that building and ask for the RC’s (Residential Coordinator) number. Or you can find the number at ORGL, Office of Residential and Greek Life, Student Union 200. Phone is 213 740-2078. Their website is here.

Joint Educational Project. Depending on if you are doing stuff with FMLA or WSA, the JEP house is available most nights, but you have to ask for permission first, ask for Jameson Stalanthas Yu, 213-740-1837. He’ll usually say "yes" unless someone else has it reserved. Give him a date and time, and he’ll call back later that day to tell you how it stands. The JEP house really is a house, with couches, tables and a small kitchen, so treat it like you’d treat your grandma’s house. And it’s older than that.

Topping Student Center. It’s a huge area with a piano and round tables set all around it. Ask the front desk. :) They also have those computer kiosks inside, so that’s good. Call 213 740-5693 and their website with forms is here.

Cheshire Cat. It’s a student run coffee place, near URC, usually on Friday Nights, though you might be able schedule other times as well.

";

var msg3 = "
Funding

Women’s Student Assembly. You have to make a presentation at their meetings, and it’s then voted upon by the members. There’s a couple of pages of easy paperwork to fill out and have ready then, so try to find the WSA head earlier that week or the previous one to fill out. They will need a complete breakdown, such as where the money goes, how it’s broken up, what other sources of money have you looked for. Make a visit to Program Board, in the Student Union Building room B-5. Everyone there can help you fill them out, and can make sure you do it right. If you do it wrong, expect a week or more delay. WSA/Program Board phone # is 213 740-5656

Philanthropy Board. Their website is here and their number 213 740-9116. They have a ton of paperwork to fill out, so be ready. But they can give out a lot, if you’re early enough and it involves the local community.

Discretionary Board. Sorry folks, if you are a part of some Assembly (like WSA for FMLA) in Program Board, you can’t get money from them.

TV Show tapings. "taped before a live audience" and paying them $10-20 a head if you can guarentee them 10 or more warm bodies. Where can you find them? Call the network phone numbers in Los Angeles, or wander on Venice Boardwalk, and find those folks who are standing by those neon-coloured sidewalk stands.
I know that there is usually one near the corner that has the sunglasses stand, the lady who sells jackets and hats for cats and dogs, and some sort of musical act. That corner. The networks’ phone number is a surer bet to getting paid though.

";

var msg4 = "
Foodstuff

Cafe 84. They give donations of cookie and sometimes pizza. Give them a week’s notice. Their contact number is 213 740-9579.

EVK. Sure we called them ’EVil Kitchen’ but they are great for the staples, like fruit or muffins. Better yet, for our caffine junkies, they can donate soda. Usually Pepsi, in cans, for easy transport. Call 213 740-0256.

Pizza. Pizza Hut does do donations for philanthropy events. Pizza Hut’s number is 972 338-4345

";

var msg5 = "
Donations of Products/Gifts

Bookstore. At times, we’ve been able to get some blank white t-shirts from them. The person to talk to is Dan Stimmler, in Room 401 of the Bookstore. They need a letter on business stationary stating what the event is, it’s purpose, who is requesting it, and who benefits from it. His administrative associate is Karen Williams, 05214. Their final boss is Phil Chiarmonte, he is the ’Associate Vice President of Business Affairs’ and the number to call is 213 740-1797. They might also be able to swing little knick-knack gifts, and give a good reason why it should be donated.

Kinkos. Yes, the copy center that is on 2723 South Figueroa St. If you have a good cause, and let them place their logo prominently on it, they might swing it. Sometimes it works, sometimes not. their phone number is 213 747-8341

random shops. It’s true, business like to get new customers. If you ask them, they might donate small items for a raffle or a gift, as long as you put them on your flyers and announce where more similar products are found. How else do you think TV shows get made without going overbudget? :) Tell us whom you’ve got to do it.

";

var msg6 = "
Publicity

Letterhead, Business Cards, and Other Forms. Topping Student Center lets recognized groups to get USC specific stuff to hand out. You have to go to the main office for the forms though. (or your Staff/Faculty Advisor can help out here too)

Mass Mailing Labels. Also at Topping, your group can get labels once a semester to mass mail stuff to USC students.

Electronic Gate. At every gate entrance to USC, there is this electronic scrolling display. Click here for the forms. It is totally cool, and it can help get the communters who drive to campus.

Kiosks. They are free and in a lot of key areas, but they clean them off on early Monday and Wednesday mornings. Be courteous and not cover up someone else’s event if you can. For those folks who plastered the whole kiosk, that’s very tacky and low class. Cover those folks up.

Stone Benches. Those are reserved from the Scheduling Office. Their number is 213 740-6362 and talk to David Sanchez, Rm 103.

Class Announcements. This is highly effective. In-person presentations work great, just remember to get permission from the professor before hand and keep it to 5 minutes max. If you can’t make a presentation, then just write a very brief message on the blackboard corner instead.

Daily Trojan. We all know it, so here’s the website link and this is their phone number 213 740-2707. You might even want to write a ’guest article’ a few days before the event for publication, if you can’t afford the advertising rates, but be sure that your article is specific and relevant to a topic, and not just an advertisement for your group.

Trojan Horse. This is the premiere and low cost alternative to the DT. Their email address is troho@usc.edu Set the ’subject’ to "Advertising". The Trojan Horse is pretty amiable to progressive groups, so an article might be easier to get here than the DT. This comes out every 2 weeks though, so plan ahead.

Departmental Offices. Another way to get to Profs is at their departmental mailbox. And you might be able to post stuff outside their office, which not many people do, so try this out. This website has the links to the various departmental offices.

";
