Bio

Jacob Everist is a Ph.D. candidate in Computer Science at the University of Southern California and a member of the Polymorphic Robotics Laboratory at Information Sciences Institute working under Dr. Wei-Min Shen.

He received an M.S. in Computer Science at the University of Southern California in 2005, and a B.S. in Computer Engineering at Oregon State University in 2002.

He has over 9 publications in the area of self-assembly, self-reconfigurable robots, and sensor tasking.

Research Interest Summary

I am interested in issues of shape and sensing in robotic systems. In particular, I want to develop methods for general-purpose sensor calibration and in-situ sensor understanding for variable morphology systems. In turn, I wish to apply this to many challenging problems such as self-assembly, self-reconfigurable systems, automated construction, and sensor networks.

Employment

* Full-Time Research Assistant working in the Polymorphic Robotics Laboratory for Prof. Wei-Min Shen
* Part-Time employee for Aerospace Corporation
