Cadence Online Documentation Tutorial
Cadence
has a very useful online documentation system known as cdsdoc. Students are advised to
familiarize themselves with this as it is very useful for finding out the solutions
to the problem that one might face while using Cadence tools.
- To check if cdsdoc is configured
properly. On command prompt type
%which cdsdoc
/usr/usc/cadence/2005/IC5033/tools/bin/cdsdoc
- Make sure that you have some internet browser like Netscape or Firefox properly installed in your account. You can
check it by typing the following command on command prompt
%which netscape
/usr/usc/bin/netscape
%which firefox
/usr/usc/bin/firefox
In case it does not show the path please contact ISD(Call x05555).
- Open cdsdoc using
%cdsdoc

- General structure of cadence documentation.
For each tool there are three type of documentation available
- Known Problems and solutions: This document contains the
solutions to some bugs identified by Cadence.
- Manual:
This document contains the user guide for all the tools and tutorial
for some of them.
- Release Notes: This document tells the new features added to
this cadence version which is different from the previous versions.
- To open a manual on Cadence Schematic Editor
Virtuoso Composer -> Virtuoso Composer Schematic User Guide

The manual which is in html format will open up in an internet
browser such as netscape or firefox.
