Hi,
my name is Erica Chae. I was born in New York but I have also lived
in Korea, Washington, and Orange County. I have lived in two
different countries, three different states, seven different cities,
and nine different houses and apartments. |
 |
My older sister, Jasmine,
who is two years older than me, is in Washington, D.C. right
now. She
is my confidant, whom I tell everything to, and she has always been
my support and encouragement. I turn to her whenever I have a
problem, and she's always been there to guide me through it. I also have a younger brother, Arnold, who is five
years younger than me. I love spending time with him, and I
especially love taking him snowboarding in the winter. Although we
have our fair share of problems, my family is strong and support
each other in every way. I love my parents and my siblings more than anything in the world. They are my
foundation, my joy, and my life. |
|
I
also have a lot of relatives in New York, California,
Washington, New Jersey, and Korea. I love visiting them and
I love it when they visit me. No matter how long it's been
since I've seen them, we always seem to feel at home with
each other. |
|
If I were to choose a color to describe myself, I
would choose neon green. I smile and laugh at everything,
which brightens up the room, like neon green, but at the
same time, I can be a bit overwhelming. Other people have
described me as being baby blue since I appear to be tough
and strong like the color blue, yet underneath, I am soft
and emotional. |
|
I love popping bubble wrap and solving
Sudoku. The feeling of
solving a tough problem fills me with joy, as does the smile
of a stranger. I believe that unexpected kindness can make a
world of a difference and that people should test my theory
more often. |
|
My heart cringes when I see a younger person
disrespect an elder. This is probably due to my Korean
upbringing that has always emphasized respect for elders.
|
|
I extremely enjoy the company of another person,
but I also love having time to myself. I love the feeling of
finishing the last chapter of a
great book and listening to different
languages, even if I can't understand it. |
 |
During the
fall of 2005, I sailed to Catalina with five of my
friends as a class assignment. Being on a boat with nothing
but water around me, barely being able to see any land was
an amazing experience.
It really exposed me to the great vastness of this world,
and created a strong desire in me to travel. |
