Tips for Incoming Students
Dorm Necessities:
XL (extra long) sheets. The beds in dorm rooms are extra long twin beds. Make sure you get the correct sheet size or it will be like trying to fit baby bedding on a queen size mattress. Also usually the beds can be stacked, to make bunk beds. Most people don’t keep them this way for obvious reasons, but to maximize room space it is pretty sensible.
Next thing: bathrooms. Most dorms have community style bathrooms – nothing fancy, no vessel sinks or anything. But they get the job done. I wouldn’t suggest using the water from the faucets; you’re better off having a supply of bottled water just to be safe.
Remember your cleaning supplies. You may overlook some things and think they are not needed, such as vacuum cleaners. But believe me, they will be very useful to you and your roommate.
Budget Shopping:
Before you go spending money on pricey laptops, make sure you shop around. There are a number of websites that sell cheap laptops that work perfectly fine. Here are some websites to check out when shopping around for computers:

Meeting People:
One thing I highly recommend for new students on campus is getting involved in as many clubs and groups as you can. Intramural sports are so much fun and if you play with a group of friends its really a great time. My friends and I play flag football every year and it’s a blast. I also try to volunteer around campus when I have some free time. There is a coat drive that is coming up soon. Last year we donated over 200 coats to people in need. It’s a really great cause and everyone has old womens coats or mens coats around the house. Getting involved is a really great way to meet people and make new friends.
