About me

Dongyu Chen received his B.S. in physics from Peking University in July, 2015. As an undergraduate student, his research mainly focused on optics and nanophotonics, especially on the whispering-gallery mode cavities and micro-resonator based frequency combs.
Now Dongyu is a first-year EE Ph.D. student at University of Southern California. He is a member of Professor Andrea Armani's research group. He will conduct some interdisciplinary research in Prof. Armani's lab.

  • Bachelor of Science in Physics
  • Doctor of Philosophy in Electrical Engineering

Frequency Comb

Optical frequency combs are useful tools in many areas. We use micro-cavities to generate frequency combs and use them in a variety of fields.

COMSOL/FDTD simulation

We use Comsol or finite difference time domain, specifically Lumerical, to model many of the properties of the optical fields in our waveguides and resonators.

OPTICAL MATERIALS

Through investigating and developing different optical materials, we want to design and build different optical resonators for different applications.
