Top ten sneakiest foods

You may think these foods are healthy enough to munch guilt-free, but these sneaky snacks are best in moderation.

Guess she heard about the yogurt and decided to go straight for the ice cream instead.

Calories are not ruining their smoothie fun.

    1. Yogurt - A cup of yogurt is a healthier way to get your calcium then say a bowl of ice cream, but the average container still packs 250 calories and loads of sugar. Unless you are going for low-fat or plain yogurt, you should consider it more of a treat than a healthy snack.

    2. Smoothies - Full of fruity deliciousness, what could be bad about a smoothie? Lots of sugar and high calorie bases. Did you know the Jamba Juice Peanut Butter Moo'd has 840 calories?

    3. Fat-free - You may be thinking, what could be wrong with those two fabulous little words. Unfortunately, just because something is fat-free does not mean you are home free. Fat-free food often compensates for lost flavor by adding lots of sugar. Opt for low-fat or sugar-free instead.

    4. Margarita - It is not like anyone ever thought a margarita was the next wheat grass shot, but who knew that somewhere between the ice and the tequila nearly 750 calories managed to inch their way in.

    5. Granola - This sneaky snack tries to play off the role of the granddaddy of health food when really, some brands contain nearly 600 calories and 25 grams of sugar per serving. Health experts suggest sprinkling a little over some low-fat yogurt, not eating an entire bowl.

    6. Soup - While the calorie counts on soup may be fairly low, do not be deceived. The condensed chicken noodle is not what mom gave you. Canned soups are filled with sodium. Try Healthy Choice brand or cans that say low sodium. You may even consider the home-made option. Mom would be proud.

    7. Taco salad - It seems you can slap the word "salad" behind anything and suddenly it is health food. Not so. The taco salad is often the most caloric thing you can order at a Mexican restaurant. Taco Bell's taco salad will cost you nearly 900 calories.

    8. Turkey burger - While in theory a lean turkey patty is a great idea, many restaurants use high-fat dark turkey meat and even blend it with mayonnaise, cheese, or ground beef to make the patty.

    9. 5 carb cheesecake - This sounds fabulous to our Atkins-trained ears but do not be fooled by low carb numbers. The dessert may have only 5 carbs but that may be outweighed by its 610 calories and 29 grams of saturated fat.

    10. Trail mix - It may seem like a healthy snack, that is until you notice the chocolate chips and M&M's that frequently find their way into the mix of nuts and berries.

Photo I'm smiling because I've got a veggie burger. No mystery meat patties for me!
