The 1st SoCal Intercollegiate Swing Cup The competitions valid for the Southern California Intercollegiate Swing Cup are only the Jack and Jills contests at: the USC Swing Challenge (Ground Zero, USC, 4.13.2008) the Claremont Colleges Swing Jam (Claremont, 4.26.2008) 1. Each finalist will earn 1 or more points, depending on the placement in the finals 2. Individual competitors will be ranked according to the total number of points gained in the two contests 3. Schools will be ranked according the total number of points gained by the top 2 leads and top 2 follows in both the contests 4. If two or more leads (or two or more follows) have the same amount of points, their placement will be resolved according to the first discriminating criterion in the following list: 4.a Number of points earned by competitor's school 4.b Number of contests won in the cup 4.c Comparison of judges sheets 4.d Flip of the coin 5. Competitors who participated to the Jack and Jill at USC will be given priority in the preregistrations for the Jack and Jill at Swing Jam... 6. ... The points will be assigned to leads and follows as following, depending on the number of finalist couples: 1st place: 8 points 2nd place: 6 points 3rd place: 4 points 4th place: 2 points 5th place: 1 point With the aforementioned mechanism, competitors are strongly encouraged to take up all the spots available from their school ASAP. Competitors belonging to a larger team may have an advantage over "loners". There will be medals for the top three leads and follows in each Jack and Jill contests, trophies for the overall best lead, follow and school in both the contests and fantastic prizes donated by our generous sponsors. The prizes will be assigned based on the final ranking in the two contests. Note that it is not mandatory to compete in both the contests. As long as one enters the finals in one of the two Jack and Jills, he/she will gain points for the cup. From a strictly mathematical point of view, one may still win the cup by enetering and winning only one Jack and Jill. However, participation to both the contests ill increase the chances to get a better placement in the final rankings.
