Our project is an enhanced version of MapQuest called MapAssist. It will be a web based application. It will include a detailed trip planner based on a number of factors other than simple "going from A to B". Some of these factors include:
* Points of interest,
* Favorite food/restaurants along the way,
* Preferred routes based upon user preferences, such as "avoid free ways between 5:00 - 6:00 pm" or "avoid I-10 between Robinson and Bundy between 8:00 am - 10:00 am".
Also errands to run will be suggested based upon the location of travel and a user specified "To Do" list. Things will be suggested such as:
* Need to stop by Bank of America Anaheim Branch,
* Need to pick up dry cleaning from Tommy's,
* Need to drop by Lincoln High School.
With the above information, and calculated real time and historical
traffic information, an efficient route is returned.

Once a route is returned, a Map with the route highlighted is displayed.
With the click of a button, real time traffic information is
superimposed on this route with different colors to indicate road
condition. Also the user can review a certain stretch of the route for
restaurants, hotels, gas stations, etc. Real time gas prices for gas
stations along the chosen route will also be displayed.
