In
our project we propose to build voice based navigation aid
software. The user of this software is envisaged to be either
a visually impaired person or one whose visual senses are
engaged in another activity- like driving a car. Thus the
main UI of the system will run on a handheld device like
the iPAQ and is voice based. Another element of our UI will
be a sensor embedded” with the user.
Our software will provide directions to the user based on
his chosen destination. The system will track the users position
continously, thus giving it the capability to act as a guide,
providing comments about the region the user is at. Finally
it can provide the user with information on his current location
and alert him of possibly dangerous situations.
