The
focus of our project will be the exploration of holographic
human machine interaction. The emphasis will primarily be
on the facilitation of virtual meetings and other applications
of virtual human presence. Our models will be purely simulated
and physical technological limitations will not be a consideration
of this project. Our primary consideration will be the design
of the virtual interface to facilitate a realistic sense
of virtual human presence.
This
technology will be particularly advantageous in situations
with time, space, and travel constraints. For example, any
number of medical students could watch an important surgery
from anywhere in the world without crowding out the surgeon.
In this instance, the student would not necessarily need
to be projected into the operating room but the whole room
could be projected at the student’s location. This technology
will also allow for a person to be present at different places
simultaneously, if they needed to give a speech to multiple
audiences, for example.
