Specification and Design of User Interface Software
Fall 2003

Course Description

The User Interface (UI) can be the single feature that can lead to success or failure of a computing system. User acceptance, operator performance, improved work productivity, sell-off, degree of real-time, ease of training, etc. are crucial issues facing user interface designers. In addition, adherence to emerging standards and new technologies (including web UI's) enhance, yet complicate the design process. The student will have the opportunity to learn about development environments that assist the user interface design process. Correctly specifying the UI can lead to improved user design, acceptance, and usability. This course examines these issues, providing the student with the tools and concepts to specify, design, and develop user interfaces. The current literature will be reviewed. Video/demonstrations are planned. A class project is required. Lecture materials available via web.
