Paleography

 

Paleography is the art of reading and analyzing handwriting. Because the style and form of writing change along with cultural heratige in history, these changes are studied along with social and historical evolution.14 The inscriptions on the coins of the Jewish revolt are written in paleo-Hebrew, which was used in the First Temple period and later in the Second Temple Period as a nationalistic revival.15

This page is created as a means of comparing current Hebrew letters with the paleo-Hebrew letters used on the shekels of the First Revolt. Listed in alphabetical order below, the letters each link to a site with pictures of the paleo-Hebrew characters and coresponding modern Hebrew script.
