At La Serenata you get not only five-star food, but service that tops any high-end restaurant around the city, which makes for an unforgettable experience.

Jose Rodriguez and his wife Aurora always longed to open a restaurant where the clientele would have a unique and memorable experience.

In 1985, Rodriguez and his wife opened La Serenata de Garibaldi located on 1842 E. 1st Street in Boyle Heights.

The couple’s goal was to introduce authentic Mexican seafood cuisine to the Boyle Heights community, but they never imagined the restaurants would “reach the heights it has,” (La Serenata).

Throughout the years, Rodriguez has diversified his menu by creating vibrant dishes and sauces that draw in patrons from all over the city.

In light of his restaurant's success and popularity, it made sense for Rodriguez opened two more locations in West L.A. and Santa Monica

The Food
At the cozy restaurant, the food is always fresh and healthy and is prepared with only the finest ingredients. One of their popular dishes is the fish tacos, which are decorated with avocado and cilantro and thhe gorditas that are filled with plump shrimp.

Hand-made tortillas accompany every dish and afterward you can indulge in desserts baked daily by the pastry chef, Marco Rodriguez, the owner’s son.
