Olympia

Felt before seen, her presence
draws your attention:
sable, supple and strong;
her stature formidable -
when she chooses.
The ring of her laughter is striped
with both innocence and wisdom,
her face full of youth
she is tall as an oak,
yet small as a child in my arms.

Abstract planes and earthly images
are equally her female domain.
A teacher, sister and friend,
lover of cookies and of men
she's not afraid to speak loudly -
but she whispers her affections.
Her love, not bestowed easily,
but given as rivers pour into the sea;
wholeheartedly.
