Poems for the Night, for AJG

i. Shadow silhouette
gleaming eyes
soft lips
tender without timidity
embrace firm
kiss moist
emotion is my only thought

ii. Adoration
spilling from my mind
spreading like black ink
running over you
across cotton sheets
breath blown hot and damp
I am not afraid

iii. How many nights
has it been since before?
how many embraces
fill my slumber
shelter my sleep
until I can remember
no other way of being?

iv. Your face asleep –
silent eyes closed
lips at rest,
so slightly parted
the music playing
in your mind
is not found here tonight

v. This midnight still clings
to summer past solstice
unexpected light
radiates from our sound
a timbre unheard
a resonance unbreakable –
keytones to quake cathedrals

vi. Tonight, I seek
only the rhythms,
the cadence of your voice;
to listen to the lyrics
you speak so softly
echo in your chest
as I rest my head against you

vii. Shadow silhouette
against these pale sheets
my hair falls,
framing your face
with dense, dark coils –
a veil that blinds me,
blissfully binds me to you
