  Description

Beomjoo Seo passed a Ph.D. defense November, 12th, 2007. He is expected to complete all the paperwork to finalize the work by next April, 2008. He got the degree from the Computer Science Department at the University of Southern California. He received the B.S. (1994) and M.S. (1996) degrees in Computer Engineering from the Seoul National University . He worked as a software engineer at the LG Electronics from 1996 to 2001. From 2001, he joined the Data Management Research Laboratory of Integrated Media Systems Center. (See extended resume (MS Word file)).

Nov., 12, 2007 I finally passed the oral defense. Thank you for everybody and special thanks goes to my family.

Oct., 24-26, 2006 I attended the ACM Multimedia 2006, held at Santa Barbara.

July, 03, 2006 My thesis topic, Edge Indexing in a Grid for highly dynamic virtual environments, is accepted for publication at the ACM Multimedia(MM) 2006.

March, 14, 2006 Seminar on "High Resolution Media Streaming for Immersive, Collaborative Environments" for graduate students of School of Computer Science and Engineering at Seoul National University, Seoul, Korea.

Dec., 9, 2005 Our lab will have an end-of-semester party hosted by Leslie and me, to celebrate on our qualification exam passes.

November, 28, 2005 Passed his qualification exam. His committee members were Professor Roger Zimmermann (adviser), Cyrus Shahabi, Dennis McLeod, Ulrich Neumann, and Alexander Sawchuk (outside member); his proposal was on Edge Indexing for Highly Scalable and Dynamically Extensible Virtual Environments.

Spring, 2005 AudioPeer website is moved to a new location, which is now managed by my colleague, Leslie Liu.

September 23 - 29, 2004 Visited Austin, Texas for IMSC live streaming demonstration.

May 19, 2004 - August 20, 2004 Worked at HP Lab Palo Alto as a summer intern.

March 24, 2004 Accepted for publication to the 2004 International Conference on Parallel and Distributed Processing Techniques and Applications (PDPTA'04), Las Vegas, Nevada, USA, June 21-24, 2004.

January 21, 2004 My homepage is newly opened, which uses adviser's style file.

January 21, 2004 AudioPeer project website is newly opened.

Fall, 2003 Passed a screening exam.

September, 13 - 18, 2003 I visited the Inha University at Incheon, Korea to install the Remote Media Immersion (RMI) system.
