A Message to the Class of 2009 from Doreen Anthony

place holder
First, congratulations to all the students who have been accepted to USC Law School; and a special congratulation to all the Black students that have been accepted. It is an absolute honor for me to be able to say that to my brothers and sisters.

Your presence in an institution of higher education and the legal profession is desperately needed and welcomed. You all stand as an inspiration to the Black community, as a blessing from the struggles that we have overcame and as a hope for the battles that we have not yet won.

I encourage you to seriously consider USC Law School as the next step in shaping your destiny. I could speak about the Law School’s prestige, its alumni network, its relatively small class, its prime location, and even about its unforgettable football games, but just about everyone you speak to on your visit here would tell you about those things.

I would rather tell you about the Black community in the Law School and the great deal of respect, camaraderie, and loyalty we have for each other, for those that came before us and for those that will follow. I invite you to join us. As a BLSA member, this unity fosters a sense of belonging as well as guides you on your path to success.

Faithfully,

Doreen Anthony (President of BLSA)
