Do you want to know how you make me feel?

You make me feel like sunlight
as it rushes through empty space,
crossing the vast and cold expanse
in eight minutes.
In eight minutes I taste
the Universe in your anticipation.
In eight minutes before I hit Earth
I see a gazillion stars all around me.
I see an arm of the Milky Way
speed past me.
At the very next moment I am filtered
and spun in countless directions,
and yet I always find a way to make it to your skin.
As I touch and bounce, I give you warmth.
I tell your body the region
of the Universe that I have come from.
I tell you of the stars
that I have seen and the galaxies
that I have traveled to,
and the far reaches of the Universe
that I have yet to explore.
But to you I have reached
in eight minutes.
It has taken me
eight minutes
to cross a hundred million miles.
In each one of those
eight minutes
I have seen the Universe born
and die infinite times.
I am here now,
right by your side.
I am here now,
to listen to you.
I am here
to be here and nowhere else.
To be all around you.
I surround you as you surround me.
