Rashed Bhatti, originally form Lahore, Pakistan, completed his early educations from kinder (1976) to Higher Secondary School (Grade 12) (1990) from Pakistani Community High School & Intermediate College (now Saudi Arabian International School), Al-Khobar, Saudi Arabia. He received his B.Sc. Hounors(1994) in Electrical Engineering from University of Engineering and Technology (UET) Lahore (College of Electrical and Mechanical Engineers (EME) now part of NUST). In 1995 he started his professional carrier as Commissioned Officer in Pakistan Army in Corps of EME and did his Post Graduate Diploma in Military Hardware from College of EME in 1997. Ministry of Science and Technology (MoST) of Pakistan awarded him a Teachers and Researchers Over Seas Scholarship (TROSS) to do his PhD abroad in Sep 2001. He did his M.S. in Computer Engineering (Architecture/VLSI) from University of Southern California (USC). During his Masters and Ph.D. course work he held teaching assistant (TA) positions (Sep 2002~May 2004) and remained involved in teaching various VLSI and ASIC design classes at USC.
Rashed is currently doing his PhD research as Research Assistant (RA) under Dr. Jeff Draper at Information Science Institute (ISI) of USC in SERDES Technologies and Applications of Estimation Theory to VLSI circuit and systems. His other research interests are micro architecture design, parallel computer architectures, digital circuit designs and simulations, low power / fault tolerant VLSI circuits and memory design.
When not entrenched in research, Rashed loves to spend time with his little family comprising Sadaf (wife), Ayesha (daughter), Raffay (son). He likes to visit recreational parks, family oriented fun places and vacationing at places full of natural sceneries and landscapes providing good opportunities for photography.
