what is the ATPS?
Associated Trutee & Presidential Scholars

The ATPS, or the Associated Trustee and Presidential Scholars, is the student organization dedicated to serving the academic, intellectual, and social needs of the recipients of Full- and Half-Tuition scholarships at the University of Southern California.

Formed by the fusion of the Associated Trustee Scholars and the Associated Presidential Scholars in 2001, this newly merged group now represents over 1,200 of USC's best and brightest. Hailing from Pennsylvania to Florida to right here in Los Angeles, this dynamic group of individuals has collectively contributed much to USC's rise to prominence over the past decade.

We provide a significant number of social and community service events on and off campus. These events provide networking opportunities between freshmen, sophomores, juniors, seniors, and fifth years for extracurricular, co-curricular, and personal endeavors. ATPS extends out to its members' families with the Parent's Weekend Tailgate.

Joseph - levitating in mid air JOSEPH LI CO-CHAIR Hello everyone! My name is Joseph, and I have the honor of serving you as your ATPS Co-Chair this year. As a junior majoring in bio and double-minoring in health communication and cultural competence in medicine, trust me, I know life can get rather hectic at times. Angela - at Disneyland ANGELA LEE ADVOCACY, CO-DIRECTOR Hi, everyone! My name is Angela, and I'm your Co-Director for Advocacy. I'm going to be a senior this year, majoring in international relations with double minors in French and EALC. In addition to ATPS, I help out with the CIRCLE program over at APASS and perform with USC Traditional Chinese Dance. I love reading, writing, eating, sleeping, traveling, and learning new languages. I studied abroad in Beijing last year, so feel free to email me with questions about that, or anything else, as you choose.
Susan - posing at the Getty Center SUSAN LEE ADVOCACY, CO-DIRECTOR I am the Co-Director of Advocacy for ATPS and am currently double-majoring in Biological Sciences and Neuroscience and minoring in Spanish. What I like best about ATPS is the sense of community that is evident within this organization that serves all the Trustee and Presidential Scholars on campus. I am originally from La Canada, CA, and I have stayed in Southern California my entire life. I have ambitions to be either a neurologist or an emergency room physician. I love traveling, and one of my dreams is to be in South Africa next year for FIFA World Cup 2010. My favorite national team is Spain (winners of UEFA EURO 2008), but my favorite league is the English Premier League.
James - enjoying the view atop Arthur's Seat outside Edinburgh, Scotland JAMES ALURI COMMUNITY SERVICE, CO-DIRECTOR Hey, fellow ATPSer! I'm co-responsible for planning community service projects for ATPS, and I love what I do. In my opinion, there's nothing more important for bright minds than to use one's talents to help those in need. I'm a double major in music (classical guitar) and biology (pre-med). When I'm not studying or planning the next great ATPS community service event, I'll be swimming, running, reading (anything from poetry to religious texts to the Economist), playing soccer, guitaring around, or researching one of the thousands of questions burning in my mind (most recently it was, "Why does milk spoil?"). I'm excited to meet you all at ATPS events and around campus!
Tisa TISA THOMAS COMMUNITY SERVICE, CO-DIRECTOR Hi everyone! I am your co-director for community service. I am excited to work with all the scholars to help serve the community! I have lived in India and Germany, and my time there has instilled in me a love for different cultures. I am currently a sophomore, and I look forward to meeting everyone at service events.

Originally from San Francisco, California, I absolutely love to travel and explore new and old places alike. At USC, I'm involved with the IEP Program and Accounting Society. Jamie - back hoome near the Florida orange tree JASMINE THUM TRANSITIONS, CO-DIRECTOR Howdy, y'all! I am a sophomore majoring in biomedical engineering with a pre-med emphasis at USC this year . While I love my hometown of Austin, TX, I greatly enjoyed my freshman year in LA, learning all about what it means to be a Trojan. I learned about the supportive and active community at USC that strives to provide academic, research, and service opportunities to the entire student body. I have also observed first-hand the great personal growth afforded by continued involvement on the USC campus and in the greater LA community. I see my role on ATPS as helping to further enhance these experiences for all. In my spare time, to keep the body active and the mind sharp, I enjoy swimming or running, along with longboarding to class. Have a great year!
DENNIS SU SPECIAL EVENTS, CO-DIRECTOR Hey ATPS, I am a sophomore majoring in Bio and Political Science. When I'm not working, I'm usually watching TV or spending time with friends. SAM LIN SPECIAL EVENTS, CO-DIRECTOR Hi there! I'm a junior majoring in BME, and aside from ATPS, I'm involved with ASBME and Grace on Campus. My passions are in my Christian faith and movie soundtracks, so if you share any (or both!) of these, drop me a line!
PEGGY WENG JUNIOR REP. A Biology major and Sociology minor, I enjoy listening to classical Chinese music, trying out new baking recipes, traveling to the Caribbean, collecting seashells, and having long conversations with friends. I love the fact that there is so much diversity in language, clothing, food, and music in the world. For me, the epitome of happiness would be to travel throughout all the countries in the world, experiencing every culture. I hope to make possible your requests for events and to represent your views on how to make ATPS even more exciting this coming year!

Her favorite past-times include dancing, painting, and napping. Her summers are usually spent vacationing with her family in other countries. Something random that she always wishes she could do is pronounce the trilling ‘r’ in Spanish—it gets her every time.
ABBY CHAO FRESHMAN REPRESENTATIVE Hello! My name is Abby and I am a business major, with an emphasis in international relations. I love playing tennis, snowboarding, listening to rock and hip-hop, and eating anything with chocolate. I'm thrilled to be at USC. As a Chicagoan, I'll miss the skyscrapers, but not the weather--being able to play tennis outside, all year long, boggles my mind.
