{04/23/09} The 14th Annual ASCA Awards Banquet (Pictures below)

When: Thursday, April 23, 6:00 to 7:15 pm
Where: Annenberg School for Communication, WEST LOBBY
(the wing across from Heritage Hall)

Join ASCA for a great night to mingle with friends and faculty as we recognize Annenberg's best professors, staff and TAs for their outstanding work. For a $5 ticket you get all you can eat El Cholo! We'll be having a raffle, and prizes include a free lunch with our advisor Professor Ken Sereno, paid ASCA membership for next year, and a football signed by the USC players!

All proceeds will benefit Troy Camp, a student-run philanthropy that holds a summer camp and mentorship program for underprivileged children in the LA community. We'd love to see you come support our faculty and staff and celebrate ASCA. Have a voice; vote for your favorite teachers in the survey below. All Annenberg students are encouraged to vote.

Look out for us selling tickets in the Annenberg Lobby this week, or you can get them at the door. This event is open to all students, including those outside of Annenberg. Encourage anyone who wants to help Troy camp and get El Cholo for $5 to come!

{04/08/09} ASCA presents A Night with SBE

This ASCA event featured different professionals from the hot Los Angeles based lifestyle company whose branches include restaurant and nightlife development, hotels, real estate, and two independent film production firms. Members from different sectors of the company including marketing, events, and sales will join us to talk about their careers and the company itself. Please bring your resumes because SBE is looking for interns! Dress will be business CASUAL, and we will be serving Panda Express. There will be a $5 suggested donation for nonmembers.

Jeffery Ghere -the Western Manager of field marketing for Universal Pictures, Jeffrey has also worked for George Grube Advertising in Oklahoma.
Sergio Gonzalez -currently the Managing Director of the newly formed Hispanic Entertainment Division at Terry Hines and Associates in their Los Angeles office. Sergio helped launch Radio Disney in Miami, and has also worked for Fox Television and Warner Bros Pictures.
Kelly Mullen -after graduating from USC, Kelly has worked at the top talent agency, Creative Artists Agency, as well as at Paramount Pictures. She now works in the indie film world for producer Michael London, producer of Academy Award winning "Sideways," the Visitor, and "Milk."
Erik Gonzalez - an Annenberg grad, Erik has worked for Disney and currently is the Central Region Manager of field marketing for Universal Pictures.

Leadership Workshop with Target

Wednesday, December 3rd, 2008 | 7 PM - 8:30 PM

Learn how to transition your leadership skills from campus to your career! Speakers from Target will go over management vs. leadership and discuss the key skills needed to succeed in the workplace. We will also discuss how students can showcase their leadership in an interview setting.

Want to find out more about certain careers? Interested in learning about what you can do with a degree in Communication? This event will schowcase professionals in different fields, including Advertising, Marketing and Fashion PR. Students will get the opportunity to learn what each field is like on a day-to-day basis, learn what companies seek when hiring, and to ask any other questions they want answered.

Shana Glick -- Development Manager at GEN ART (a fashion, film, visual arts and music promotions company).
During the past two years, Gen Art Los Angeles Marketing and Business Development Manager Shana Glick has worked on a variety of events including the annual Fresh Faces in Fashion and New Garde, both of which kick-off LA Fashion Week and showcase emerging designers, drawing more than 1,000 guests. Throughout the rest of the calendar, Glick's work with Gen Art involves producing and marketing events for film, art, and music. Glick is an Annenberg graduate school alum.

Beyond the Spotlight: Sports & the Media" co-sponsored with ALSA

Wed, Oct 29, 7p – 9pm

ASCA and ALSA proudly present ""Beyond the Spotlight: Sports & the Media." Our discussion will be comprised of a group of student athletes that will include Olympic medalist Rebecca Soni and Heisman hopeful Mark Sanchez. The panel will also consist of retired athletes, professors, and professionals from media and sports. Beyond the Spotlight: Sports & The Media will examine the complex relationship between athletes and the media.

Students joined together to discuss Annenberg classes. Sushi was served and everyone had a great time!

Family Feud Taping

On Friday, October 10th, ASCA members attended a taping of Family Feud. The day included a rush trip to Arby's, followed by a lot of singing and clapping. It was a great opportunity for group members to socialize. Episodes 88,89 and 90 to air soon! Lookout for ASCA members in the crowd.
