Antonio Roque
I'm a CS PhD candidate at the University of Southern California. I work with David Traum at the Institute for Creative Technologies, doing research on dialogue modeling in spoken dialogue systems.
I'm involved with ISCA's Student Advisory Committee and the IEEE SLTC newsletter. I was on the program committee for SIGdial 2008 and the advisory committee for the Young Researchers' Roundtable on Spoken Dialog Systems.
My undergraduate degree is in English with a concentration in Creative Writing from the University of Michigan. After graduation I pursued a career of computer consulting and programming, simultaneously taking CS classes at Eastern Michigan University. I was a programmer in a web shop during the dot-com boom when I made the (timely) move to research. From 2000 - 2003 I worked on a natural language intelligent tutoring system at the University of Pittsburgh with Kurt VanLehn and Carolyn Rose. In fall 2003 I did an internship at AT&T Labs-Research.
