Getting to Saintes

The Saintes program will take the students on extensive field studies of European cities. The 2003 Saintes program is taking students to Paris, Berlin, Barcelona, Bilbao, Zaragoza, Marseille, Lyon, Bordeaux, as well as the numerous historically rich smaller cities nearby. These trips are broad explorations of the designed environment. Urban, architectural, and landscape topics are examined in relation to the cultural and historic context. The Garden Tour in Paris and Versailles exposes the students to both the historic and progressive aspects of landscape architecture in France. Additional trips in the past have included Avignon, and tours of Le Corbusier's work including La Tourette, Ronchamp, and the Unite de Habitation.
