Automated CDMA Call Processing Test Tools (Jun 2004 - Jul 2006)
(As a Software Engineer at Motorola India)
- Design and development of 100% automation tools for testing Call Processing features in the CDMA Base Station Controller
- Impact-based test case selection from a master test suite for every feature.
- Automated execution of selected test cases on impacted network elements while simulating all other network elements that are not affected by the feature in concern.
Value Additions
- Automated test production and uninterrupted test execution.
- Reduced test execution cycle time.

- Worked on optimization of the Mobile Assisted Hard Handoff feature proposed by Qualcomm Inc. for implementation in the Motorola CDMA Network.
- The Mobile Station was directed to measure signal strengths of other pilots in the allotted frequency band and report its findings to the Base Station Controller.
- Hard Handoffs were performed when pilots of reasonable signal strengths were found in the allotted frequency band.
Value Additions
  - Enhanced QoS as call preservation rate is higher.
- Handoff success rates are drastically improved as the Base Station Controller can now select the strongest target signal to during the Hard Handoff execution.

- Developed Speech Recognition code to test IVR-based menu systems that exchanged voice prompts and DTMF digits to determine the service plan purchased by a CDMA customer.
- Voice prompts received over a T1 line are recorded and (an optimized version of) a speech recognition algorithm is used to transform it to a code.
- Feature extraction algorithms that used Mel Frequency Cepstral Analysis were used.
- These codes are matched with the those stored in the database, and when a successful match is found, appropriate DTMF digits are sent in response over the T1 line.

- A system designed to control various electronic appliances at home using a remote (fixed-line or mobile) telephone. Each device was assigned a unique DTMF code. Up to 16 devices were supported by the system.
- DTMF digits input at the Mobile Station were decoded at the receiving station, which activated the relays controlling input power to various electronic appliances.
- Proposed solutions for an unmanned vehicle with considerations including optimum path, fuel efficiency, obstruction avoidance, safety of goods and navigation through bad road conditions.
- The system derives the most optimum route to be taken from the specified starting point to the destination point by running various proposed algorithms.
