| APAMSA celebrated Lunar New Year
with several performances and a variety of Asian dishes. We
performed a
traditional dragon dance which was led by Dr. Chivey Wu of Cal State
Los Angeles. Dr. Wu also performed the "Dance of the Monkey King."
The Vietnamese Pharmacy Student Association also performed a
traditional Vietnamese
dance.
Students from HSC enjoyed these performances and also tasted chow mein, chow fan, dim sum, boba, and Vietnamese sandwiches. They were also given programs with information about the Lunar New Year celebration. The Dragon Dance was also performed at the Alhambra Chinatown
Lunar New Year celebration. They were a part of the parade
that marched down Atlantic Blvd. |

The diversity of Asian and Pacific Islander communities in Los Angeles necessitates raising awareness of and addressing unmet health needs specific to each community. These goals stand behind current projects of youth mentorship, health fairs, Hepatitis B community outreach, cultural events, bone marrow registration drives, and research opportunities. |
