Alpha Lambda Delta is a national society that honors academic
excellence during a student's first year in college (About
ALD).
A student may become eligible for membership in Alpha Lambda Delta
by attaining a 3.5 GPA during either the first semester or the first
year at USC (Membership).
Alpha Lambda Delta not only fosters academic achievement, but also
relationships with peers in the student body, the school faculty, and
the nationwide community.

New Opportunity for ALD members: USC Mellon Mays
Undergraduate Fellowship Program
The Mellon Mays Undergraduate Fellowship is a mentoring program
where fellows gain insight into an academic career by working
closely with a faculty mentor on an original research project. In
addition to gaining research experience, participants receive
mentoring, financial support, GRE test preparation, graduate school
preparatory workshops, and networking opportunities with top
graduate schools in the United States.
Interested sophomores and juniors may obtain additional information
as well as the application at www.usc.edu/mmuf .
Students must be committed to diversity in academia and desire a
career as a college professor in a Mellon approved field. A list of
Mellon Mays approved majors and minors is available at http://www.usc.edu/student-affairs/MMUF/programs_eligibility.shtml .
The deadline to apply is Monday, February 13th.

She Shall Go Free is a growing non-profit organization dedicated to fighting against sexual slavery, human trafficking, and other forms of exploitation or violence against women and girls. We focus our efforts on awareness raising campaigns, fair trade and ethical consumerism, fundraising for anti-trafficking programs, and unique initiatives designed to make a visible impact in the fight against injustice.
Right now, we are in the running for a $25,000 grant from the Pepsi Refresh Project. Winners are selected based on votes from the public, so we need YOUR help to make this happen! Everyone can give us one vote per day for the whole month of September--and making sure you vote every day will really help us!!

Award
Each year, the National Council of Alpha Lambda Delta awards the
Lampadia Chapter Website Award to chapters who have created and
maintained exceptional chapter websites. USC ALD was one of 4 chapters
chosen in 2010!

Welcome to New Inductees!
Welcome to the new inductees of ALD 2010-2012! This year we inducted over 900 new members for our local chapter at the University of Southern California, and we are very excited to see new members joining our large family!
Please keep an eye out for upcoming events, especially in the 2010-2011 school year. Photos will be added in the Fall 2011 2011-2012 school year.

Welcome Back Luncheon: Excited to return to USC? ALD is
putting on a welcome back luncheon for returning students. Come and
join us!
Involvement Fair: Come out to Trousdale and discover the
myriad of organizations on campus! Don't forget to stop by ALD's
booth.
General Meetings: Want to learn more about what ALD is and
what great events we have planned for you for the upcoming school
year? Come to one of our general meetings at the start of the Fall
semester! We will keep you updated on the exact date.
Ice Cream Social: Need some time to relax and unwind? Stop
by our ice cream social, treat yourself to some ice cream, and meet
your fellow ALD members and officers!
Professional Appreciation Luncheon: This is the one event
you do not want to miss. Take your favorite professor out for lunch
and chat, and the bill is on us. Just make sure you apply soon! Note: more details in regards to this event will be
posted shortly. Be sure to keep a look-out for updates in your inboxes
and on our Facebook group.
Membership Appreciation Days: To show our appreciation for
our members, USC ALD will have two member appreciation days. Stop by
and grab something to eat and drink. This will also be a time to relax
before finals week. More details on this event will be announced
soon!
USC vs. UCLA Blood Challenge: Be a part of the beat UCLA
blood drive, an ongoing event from the USC Blood Donor Center that
will last throughout the semester! Check out our calendar for a list
of times when you can donate your blood to someone in need, and you
will also receive a gift in return.
Relay for Life: USC ALD formed its own team for Relay for Life at the University of Southern California! At Relay, our team camped out overnight and took turns walking around the track to raise money and awareness to help the American Cancer Society save more lives from cancer. This is a life-changing event that gives everyone in the community a chance to celebrate the lives of people who have battled cancer, remember loved ones lost, and fight back against a disease that takes too much.
