I was born and brought up in Kolkata, India. I have a Bachelor of Technology (B.Tech.) degree in Computer Science and Engineering from National Institute of Technology Calicut, India. I am currently a PhD student in the Department of Computer Science, University of Southern California. My research interests are in Deep Learning and Representation Learning, especially for visual semantics and healthcare applications. I am interested in developing new algorithms and applications at the intersection of these fields.

Research Assistant • Aug 2017 - Present
I work as a Research Assistant to my PhD advisor, Prof. Natarajan, in his lab at USC ISI. I work on projects involving multimodal data (especially, images, text and structured metadata), with a focus on semantic modeling and integrity assessment. I continue to work on healthcare projects as a part of my PhD research.
Deep Learning Intern • May 2016 - Aug 2016 • May 2017 - Aug 2017
I worked with the Data Analytics Platform team on various use-cases of machine learning and deep learning to improve their service and monitor their systems, involving anomaly detection and forecasting, as well as image segmentation.
Teaching Assistant • Jan 2017 - May 2017
I worked as a Teaching Assistant for USC CSCI 104L (Data Structures and Object Oriented Design). I helped oranize lab sessions, held office hours and graded assignments and tests.
Research Assistant • Aug 2014 - Apr 2016 • Aug 2016 - Dec 2016
I worked as a Research Assistant to my PhD advisor, Prof. Raghavendra, in the Predictive Analytics lab. I worked on projects involving oilfield data and those involving healthcare data. I continue to work on healthcare projects as a part of my PhD research.
Visiting Research Scholar • May 2013 - Jul 2013
I worked with Prof. Knoblock and his team on the task of predicting the next location of a smartphone user using sparse GPS data. I also worked on designing workflows for adding Data Mining features to their Data Integration project, Karma.
PhD in Computer Science• Currently Pursuing
I am currently pursuing a PhD in Computer Science at University of Southern California. My research interests include Machine Learning applications in multiple domains with a focus on Deep Learning, Representation Learning, Visual Semantics and Healthcare. I am co-advised by Prof. Cauligi S. Raghavendra and Prof. Premkumar Natarajan. I work on projects involving semantic understanding and retrieval of images. I also work on multiple projects to improve healthcare through Machine Learning. I am enrolled in the Health, Technology and Engineering (HTE@USC) program in which I work with medical students at USC Keck School of Medicine to come up with innovations to improve healthcare.
BTech in Computer Science and Engineering • Gold Medalist • May 2014
I completed Bachelor of Technology in Computer Science and Engineering with the Gold Medal at National Institute of Technology Calicut, India.
