Students and Credit Cards

Pretty much anyone could tell you why college students shouldn.t have credit cards. It.s no surprise college students are graduating from college with a mountain of debt- particularly because of how easy it is for college students to get student credit cards. If you keep your head on straight though, credit cards are not always a .bad thing..

There are some reasons why it would actually be a good idea for college students to respond to the many credit card offers they.re presented with on a regular basis! College is actually the best time to build your credit history. Once you graduate, you.re probably going to start looking for financing for various .big ticket. items; like a mortgage or new vehicle (or both!) Having a solid credit history behind you is necessary for getting the financing. Just be careful to make all of your credit card payments on time so that you will be building a good credit history rather than a bad one!

For some reason, it is easier for college students to qualify for credit card offers than it is for adults just out of college. Student credit cards have easier qualification requirements and often college students don.t even need a job to get student credit cards! Of course, if you plan on making your payments it.s probably a good idea to have some sort of regular income that makes it possible for you to make payments.

If you happen to be a college student attending school far away from home, having a credit card makes it possible to book your own airline reservations. It.s impossible to book a flight without a credit card these days, so having your own student credit card makes it possible for you to make your own travel arrangements when you.re ready to head home for a school break- or perhaps when you.re ready to go on spring break!
