- Your USC AATP Directors '11-'12

Welcome! The Asian American Tutorial Project is an all student run joint organization. One of the main branches lie here at USC. Since our establishment in 1968, the members of AATP have served as both tutors and mentors to under privileged children in the Los Angeles County community. Currently, our project is concentrated at Castelar Elementary School in Chinatown. Every Saturday morning for a course of 6 to 8 weeks each quarter, students from USC, UCLA, and Occidental College provide one-on-one tutoring to recommended children from 1st through 6th grade. These sessions run approximately 2 hours between the hours of 10am to 12pm. There are a few exceptions, which include orientation and field trip days.

AATP is a volunteer organization that concentrates on providing ways to encourage children to pursue a higher education. At the same time, we hope to provide an opportunity through the tutors for the children to have a big sister or brother to offer them something more that the children may not be able to get at home. Our favorite motto to you is:

Be a Tutor, Be a Mentor, Be a Friend.

Being a part of AATP offers you more than the opportunity to help others. In addition, AATP also serves as a way for students to interact and meet with students from UCLA and Occidental College. We offer many socials for the tutors including the annual banquet at the end of the 3rd quarter that is held to thank all the tutors for their efforts. Knowing fellow tutors is an important part in ensuring that the environment for the children is friendly and warm.

The Asian American Tutorial Project is a wonderful program that has provided excellent service and warm smiles through its many years of existence. Please contact us if you wish to become a part of its legacy.
