About NSBE

NSBE Directives

Membership Development

NSBE has focused on operational efficiency for the last couple of years. Now that we have achieved a level of success in our business operations, we must leverage this opportunity to develop our largest and most important product, our membership. Pre-college, collegiate, and alumni members will be developed through mission related projects and programs. Specific attention will be given to graduate and international students ensuring that we service their needs as they strive to participate in projects and programs that fulfill our mission.

Leadership Enrichment

NSBE creates leaders through the many board and committee positions available at the chapter, regional, and national levels. We need to translate these leadership experiences into marketable skills such that NSBE members are viewed competitvely in the marketplace. With the assistance of our partners, the Board of Corporate Affiliates, we will work to develop leadership tracks enabling leaders to receive certifications for specific skill areas.

Academic Excellence

At the heart of our mission statement are the words excel academically. We must develop a series of comprehensive modules, programs, and measurement tools to ensure our pre-college and collegiate members are achieving academically.

Social Consciousness

Empowering the world… one engineer at a time, our 2005 National Convention theme, will be implemented throughout the year by immersing ourselves in issues affecting our current and future status as black engineers and by bringing awareness to such issues as engineering school closings, voter apathy, technical unemployment, as well as, math and science illiteracy among black youth. We will identify and tackle factors affecting black success.

The National Executive Board is working assiduously to enhance your NSBE experience, however; I encourage each member to review the directives thoroughly and incorporate them in your daily NSBE walk. Thank you for your commitment to the excellence of the National Society of Black Engineers and your quest to fulfill the mission.
