WELCOME GPAC ALUMNI               

Whether you just graduated in 2005 or you joined GPAC when Bon Jovi was popular, you are part of the GPAC Family.  Today, as the GPAC alumni grow, we have members throughout the public, private and non-profit sectors across Southern California and the Nation.  Check for updates, post information and coordinate events through the GPAC Alumni Page by contacting John Keisler, 2004-2005 GPAC President, jokeisl@longbeach.gov.

 

Mission of the GPAC Alumni:                                     "Building a community of leaders at SPPD and beyond..."

Community: Providing social, academic and professional networking opportunities for GPAC students and Alumni.

Governance: Creating professional leadership opportunities for GPAC students and Alumni throughout the region.

Place: Contributing to the unique culture and traditions of GPAC.

GPAC Tailgates!                                                        October 8, 2005 against the University of Arizona

Also, watch for announcements from the Alumni Committee about sponsoring an upcoming tailgate party and look for house parties and barbecues around the region for road games.

Alumni Happy Hour, Auld Dubliner, Long Beach              October, 2005 (5:30PM-7:30PM):

Coming Soon!  GPAC Alumni will be hosting regular monthly happy hours at locally-famous waterholes throughout the City.  Check for updates as we get closer to the first Alumni Happy Hour in late October.  Plan your own happy hour and post on the Alumni Page by contacting John Keisler, jokeisl@longbeach.gov.

 

Long Beach Networking Lunches                                        Wednesdays  in 2005;  (12:00PM-1:00PM)

Join a number of GPAC and SPPD Alumni for lunch in Long Beach on Tuesdays!  This is a standing lunch with a number of professionals who get together every Tuesday at Noon to eat and catch up (location TBA).  Great networking opportunity!  Come and meet alumni and get the lowdown on local government or just check out the City.  Contact John Keisler, jokeisl@longbeach.gov to get added to the lunch list.

 

PROFESSIONAL EVENTS                

Annual Conference, Minneapolis, MN                     September 24-26, 2005:

GPAC Alumni, including ICMA Conference Committee Member John Keisler (MPA 05) will be attending the 2005 ICMA Conference in Minneapolis, Minnesota this Fall. GPAC Alumni who are now out in the working world have a special responsibility to attend the first SPPD Fall Networking Night in early October. It is the duty of every GPAC Alumni to give back as much as each of us were given by showing support, building community and providing opportunities for the next group of future leaders. ALUMNI UPDATES!      

Over 20 Alumni Attend 1st GPAC Tailgate!  September 17, 2005

GPAC and ASPD joined forces at the first 2005 tailgate of the year and then watched the Trojans destroy the Razorbacks 70-17. Over 20 alumni and nearly 100 MPA, MPP, MPL and MHA were present. Look for announcements about the next tailgate party at www.gpacblog.blogspot.com

Building the Tradiation at SPPD

Now that you have graduated and begun life in the working world, staying in touch with your SPPD Peers is more important than ever.  

A tradition is what you make of it.

1.  Attend at least one GPAC or SPPD event each semester.

2.  Update your contact information in the USC and SPPD databases.

3.  Send a card to one of your professors and tell them what you are doing.
