Tryouts

All-Female Tryout Dates:

It is anticipated that the 2008-2009 team tryouts will be held in September 2008. Please check back for updated 2008-2009 tryout information.

About Tryouts:

Tryouts consist of 3 days: A clinic on Thursday, a Friday review day, and the tryouts on Saturday.

On Thursday, potential members will be taught a dance and cheer. During this day stunt groups will be formed, and potential members will have a chance to practice their tumbling and jumps.

Friday is an optional review day when potential members can review the dance and cheer and practice more with their stunt group.

Saturday is tryouts. Once an entire stunt group has arrived, each potential member will be given a number. Two members of the stunt group will tryout first. Each of them will perform a toe touch, a pike jump, any standing and/or cross tumbling, and the dance. Then the other two members of the stunt group will perform their toe touch, pike jump, tumbling, and dance. Lastly, all four members of the stunt group will perform the cheer and a basic level stunt.

Tryout results will be emailed around 5pm on Saturday following tryouts.

If you are unable to attend tryouts for any reason, please contact the coach to make individual arrangements.

  2. Flyers must be able to hold a left heel stretch on the ground (to demonstrate ability or potential to do a heel stretch in the air). Flyers must be able to do a back tuck with a spot on the ground (to demonstrate ability or potential to do a back tuck basket toss and rewind partner stunt)
  3. At least a standing back handspring (those without tumbling are encouraged to tryout, but tumbling is strongly recommended)
  4. Understanding and acceptance of cost and time commitment. (Being a USC Competition Cheerleader is a fun and rewarding experience, but members must be willing to put in a lot of time, dedication, and commitment to the team.)
