About Accounting Society
Accounting Society is a professional student organization within the University of Southern California's Leventhal School of Accounting. We are dedicated to exposing students to academic and career issues in the financial and accounting world.

Through opportunities to meet other individuals studying or working in the field of accounting, members develop strong relationships with faculty, alumni, professionals, and fellow students. Accounting Society’s activities include a professional-student mentoring program, weekly speaker engagements, firm socials, office tours, community service projects, professional development workshops, and club social events. Accounting Society is open to USC students of all majors.

Pledging
Accounting Society is a professional student organization, not a social fraternity. Pledge members are required to attend more Firm and AS Sponsored Events and Weekly Meetings than Active members. The purpose of these more demanding requirements is to encourage our new members to experience everything that AS has to offer. The more actively involved you become, the more beneficial your involvement will be. We strongly urge you to make the commitment towards achieving Active Member Status. The advantages of making Active status include eligibility to run for office, less stringent participation requirements, and lower membership dues.

The officers of the Accounting Society have developed a new status level honoring members who have truly partaken in the activities of the organization. Senior Member is the highest level in the Accounting Society and entails a new set of requirements needed to maintain this status. Senior members will receive the highest recognition as a member and will be awarded the AS sash at graduation.

Benefits
There are numerous benefits of joining and becoming actively involved in AS. First and foremost, you will have the opportunity to learn more about the accounting profession, the recruiting process, interviewing skills, professionalism, and career opportunities in the accounting and professional services industry.

Another benefit of joining AS is the opportunity to network with accounting professionals, faculty, and your fellow students. The USC business alumni network is one of the strongest in the country, and joining AS is a good way to begin to become involved in that network. You will make numerous professional and social contacts that will remain strong throughout your life.

Possessing strong leadership and communication skills is essential for success in today's business environment. Accounting Society provides many opportunities for you to develop your leadership skills.

Finally, one of the most important benefits of being a member of AS is having fun. You are attempting to complete one of the most rigorous academic programs in the country. AS provides its members with many opportunities to unwind and relieve stress throughout the semester.

Joining Accounting Society
Accounting Society accepts new members at the beginning of each spring and fall semester. You are invited to join us for an Information Session at the beginning of Spring Semester. Location and date TBA.

This Information Session will feature an introduction to the Spring 2007 officers, a question and answer session, an opportunity to meet AS members, and a free lunch.

We hope to see you at the Information Session and we look forward to meeting you as well. Once you become familiar with the membership requirements and decide to join AS, simply fill out an application and turn in your membership dues. Your membership will remain inactive until the required membership dues are received. The membership dues are as follows:
  • Pledge Member $130/semester
  • Active Member $110/semester
  • Senior Member $65/semester
Please submit your completed application and membership fee to any AS officer. AS is not responsible for lost or stolen applications and checks if not personally handed to an AS officer. Please make payment by check or money order to USC Accounting Society. If you have any questions relating to membership dues (or membership in general), please send an email to acctsoc@usc.edu and we will respond as soon as possible.
